Why we’re different
OYOO Style was born in 2021 out of a love for African textiles and the need to design ethical clothing that stood out from the mainstream shops. We wanted to break the mould and design a bright, fun fashion and homeware range that appeals to everyone, and brings a smile to people’s faces.
- Support local skill – we invest in training seamstresses to empower them
- Good wages – we pay our seamstresses fair wages
- No waste – we use all our off-cuts of material to create our multi-coloured clothing and accessories
- We give back – by donating 10% of all bunting sales to LGBTQ+ charities.
Our Promise
- Quality – we only source quality material that will last, and everything is made with love and attention to detail
- Locally sourced – we keep it local and only source material within the African continent
- Slow fashion – all our items are handmade to order
By supporting us you are helping to create work opportunities within South Africa. We believe that slow fashion and fairer wages are important. We can all make a difference by supporting small ethical fashion brands instead of buying clothes from mass production sweatshops.

Our Suppliers
We care about our environmental footprint and in addition to our zero waste policy, we strive to source our textiles, and other materials from local and ethical suppliers only.
3Cats Shweshwe
From the Eastern Cape, South Africa, we only use genuine 3Cats Shweshwe, which is made by DaGama and can be identified by the stamp on all of their material. Genuine shweshwe colour does not run in cold water and is made of 100% cotton. Please visit DaGama’s website on their own dedication to support local communities and the environment.
Buttons
Our OYOO Style metal buttons are supplied by Castaway Components in Cape Town. We currently use buttons on our bedding and shirts.
Labels
Our OYOO Style labels (including size labels) are produced by a company called JSSL, who are based in Cape Town. Not only is this company local, but they also care about their impact on the planet and people. You can find their corporate responsibility statement on JSSL.co.za.
